Our first couple of days in Europe were spent on the streets of Paris. After stepping off our plane my boyfriend Bill Fisher (BilFish) attempted a few words of French to the man at the info booth, who politely smiled and spoke English in return. We hopped on the train and got ourselves to the Hotel de France where we were able to drop off our backpacks (mine was 6 pounds lighter than Bill's, so much for a girl overpacking) and begin our journey. We grabbed an incredible bagguette sandwich from a bakery down the street, I must say the French know how to make some darn good bread. Once our hunger pains had subsided we set off on foot and checked out the surrounding neighborhoods. One of the first monuments we came across was the Bastille. Next we stumbled on this cool little neighborhood called the Isle of St. Louis. Narrow streets with neat little shops and restaurants. After a couple of hours of checkin' out the sites we headed back to the hotel to check in and catch up with Dan Rowley who was arriving from Phoenix. After taking a brief nap we headed out to see the sites of Paris and ended up walking for about 8 hours our first day. Here are some of the sites we stumbled upon. Enjoy! |
